Fostering An Elephant
Every Cent Counts!
We are so grateful to the kind hearts that donate toward the vital work of HERD, South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage, helping us to save, rehabilitate and rewild orphaned elephants.
We rely on public funding to remain operational from month to month. Every cent counts, and there is no contribution too small.
If you would like to play a role in giving elephant orphans a second chance at life, with a new herd to call their own, please consider donating to the Wildlife Conservation Trust, a registered PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) with whom we work.
*All funding for the elephant orphanage is channelled through the Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT), which supports projects and organisations that have dedicated their work to the conservation of endangered or vulnerable wildlife species – through protection, rehabilitation and research, as well as facilitating projects with goals to educate communities about the importance of the environment and conservation.
The WCT provided funding for the orphaned elephants while at Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC), and together with the team at HESC and Jabulani, identified the need to build the facility at HERD for the sole purpose of caring for orphaned and displaced elephants in Southern Africa.
