This year in celebration of World Elephant Day 2021, we launched our Trunkfuls of Art competition, where we asked creatives from all over the world to create a piece of art inspired by HERD, using any method or material that they like. Entrants were required to donate a small entry fee, to submit their art work.

The idea behind our Trunkfuls of Art competition was to get participants involved from all walks of life, ages and generate awareness on elephants and the importance of conserving them for future generations to come. All proceeds of the competition will go towards our rescued herd of elephants.

Our dedicated team of elephant carers have selected their favourite artworks, and due to the wide variety of and incredibly detailed and beautiful pieces of art it was not an easy decision to make! The carers split into two groups to create two different scores out of ten: with Adopt, Liverson, Simba, Emanuel, and Tigere in the first team, and Israel, Joshua, Last and Shepherd in the second team. Thank you TEAM CARERS for your tough judging skills!

And our winners are:

Adult category: Elena Pienaar, Laura Curtin, Regina Zimmerman
Young Adults: Angelina Hedberg and Kayleigh Rice
Juniors: Fayth Mohammed and Logan Maliepaard

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Trunkfuls of Art competition! We were blown away with your creativity and we immensely appreciate your support in helping us raise awareness for the elephant species this World Elephant Day, 2021!

The Prizes:

Junior Category:  A competition certificate, digital colouring-in book and private HERD video!

Young Adult Category: A competition certificate, digital HERD Wisdoms print by local South African artist, Maryke Vosloo, and a private video by either Adine or Tigere.

Adult Category: A competition certificate and an option of an Elephant Moments Morning Visit to meet some of the bulls; a virtual experience with Tigere, or a 20 minute virtual coffee with Adine.

We will be in touch with all our winners and entrants (for whom we have a special little thank you)!
