Foster An Elephant
To ensure the sustained support of the orphans brought into our care at HERD, we rely on crucial funding from compassionate donors. We invite you to be part of saving the lives of orphaned and displaced elephants in Southern Africa by fostering an elephant orphan at HERD.
Funding goes toward meeting these needs, which include our essential and sizable team of dedicated elephant carers, who assist in 24-hour-shifts to ensure that the little ones are never left alone, as well as to the baby elephant’s milk formulation, which is exceptionally delicate and requires extra nutritional supplements as the animal grows, as their mother’s milk would change naturally through the weaning stages and evolving needs.
You can help us to provide vital shelter, support and sustenance by fostering an elephant for yourself or fostering an elephant as a gift for a loved one, giving them the joy of supporting an elephant and the world of elephant conservation.
Our Foster memberships show clearly what each membership fees will be used for, helping you choose the membership that best suits your ideals in fostering an orphan that touches your heart the most.
*All funding for the elephant orphanage is channelled through the Wildlife Conservation Trust (WCT), a registered PBO (Public Benefit Organisation) that supports projects and organisations that have dedicated their work to the conservation of endangered or vulnerable wildlife species – through protection, rehabilitation and research, as well as facilitating projects with goals to educate communities about the importance of the environment and conservation.
